Case Study

Asbestos ceiling removal

Asbestos Solutions were instructed by a microbrewery based in Piccadilly, Manchester to remove asbestos insulating board forming ceilings in their ground floor offices prior to a refurbishment of the property and extension of the microbrewery. The client had an asbestos refurbishment survey carried out by a UKAS accredited asbestos surveyor.

The initial preparation for the asbestos removal required a specialist asbestos waste skip to be located at the front of the site, as well as a decontamination shower unit. Three-stage air locks and bag locks were built to allow asbestos operatives and asbestos waste to move in and out of the asbestos enclosure. Two negative pressure units with Hepa filters were positioned at the opposite end of the air locks to allow clean air to purge the asbestos enclosure.

The project took a three man team four days to complete on schedule, within budget and to the client’s satisfaction.
